Abstract: | We characterize high-power photodiodes under short pulse illumination for microwave generation. Photodetection limits the 10 GHz instability to 1.4 x 10-17 at 1 s, corresponding to 1/f phase noise of -135 dBc/Hz at 1 Hz. |
