dc.description.abstractWe demonstrate low-loss guidance of small-core exposed core fibers, fabricated through a drilling technique in fused silica glass. By modifying the design and fabrication procedure a more practical fiber can be realized, with a small core enabling a high evanescent overlap for prospective sensing applications.-
