Abstract: A short story set between Fort McMurray in Alberta, Canada, and Adelaide, in South Australia, in which the protagonist mourns the death of a child while exploring an exhibit of fossils at a museum. The piece explores themes of environmental disruption and loss, and connects these to the physical and emotional experience of mourning.
