Quantum Chromodynamics describes the strong force in terms of quarks and gluons. Hence, we explore the dynamical properties of these degrees of freedom. Here, some of the progress made possible through first principles calculations of the quark and gluon propagators is reviewed. The phenomenologically interesting quantities they contain are highlighted. © 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.-
