dc.description.abstract<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>Sodium pentafluorobenzoate monohydrate, Na<jats:sup>+</jats:sup>[C<jats:sub>6</jats:sub>F<jats:sub>5</jats:sub>CO<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>]<jats:sup>−</jats:sup>·H<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>O crystallizes with two such formula units in the asymmetric unit of a monoclinic <jats:italic>P</jats:italic>2<jats:sub>1</jats:sub> lattice. It forms a novel two‐dimensional array based on Na<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>O<jats:sub>2</jats:sub> rhombs, which combine sequentially in one dimension to generate a ‘cubanoid stair’ structure, in the network of which ‘chair’, ‘open cubane’, and other derivative motives may be discerned, and in which unusual Na···F interactions feature.</jats:p>-
