Abstract: The article offers information on the first steps in knowledge translation, which is by measuring the gap between evidence and actual practice. It states that the strategies to complete the required assessments will depend on the purpose of the assessment, the available resources and the type of data. Moreover, needs can be evaluated from the view of a population, health care provider and organization.
