Abstract: | Many people invest a lot of time and money in developing and customising their avatar, and consequently feel closely bonded with that avatar. This interdisciplinary paper will undertake a psycho-sociological analysis of the relationship between users and their avatars in social virtual worlds, and an assessment of the implications of this analysis for establishing legal rights in avatars. |
