Abstract: | The drafting of the Australian Constitution was a process that involved the distillation of political compromises into the language of a parliamentary enactment. This article reflects upon the process of drafting the Australian Constitution and highlights a number of significant influences on the final text. The article concludes by noting some of the universal themes and functions that constitutions and constitution-making plays in society. |
