Abstract: | This article documents the recent upsurge of interest in English Premier League (EPL) football in one village in rural South-western Uganda. It argues that this new fandom stems from the media reforms that were introduced in Uganda after 1986, and that the craze has already produced a range of unexpected, and in some ways profound, social effects. |
